Last week, my hard drive crashed and rendered my computer useless. For the past week, I have been borrowing a family member's computer to check e-mail and other minor things. I received word yesterday that I will be receiving a disk of the data that was recovered and a new hard drive. This has been a serious wake up call for me, because I have not been backing up like I should. My last back up was August 2008! Once I receive the disks, I will be able to find out if everything was recovered. To make sure this does not happen again, I plan on purchasing an external hard drive to perform weekly backups. This experience has really opened my eyes to the importance of regular backups.
Tip of the Day: Please back up all of your data on a frequent basis. Weekly back ups should be sufficient, but daily for really important items that you are working on. You never know when you will encounter a computer malfunction. It is better to be on the safe side.
